Ayça is a multi-award-winning industrial designer and serial inventor. A material technology and packaging expert, Ayça centres her design practice on using innovation and circular design principles to solve sustainability problems with novel materials and products.

Francis is a multi-disciplinary architect and technologist, combining expertise in manufacturing, construction and AI to explore the full capability of materials. His fascination with ecology and natural systems underpins his work designing, researching and prototyping new products.

The Power of Two

PROTOTYPING PRODUCTS

Searo Labs was founded by husband-and-wife duo Ayça and Francis in 2022 in Cambridge, UK. The pair have won multiple international awards for their work in sustainability and material innovation. Searo was borne of their shared love of nature and a passion to protect animals and ecosystems. Today, they run Searo as a materials design research lab — designing, making and prototyping seaweed-based alternatives to single-use plastic.
